Recreation at Treat Point Shores
Swimming and Boating. Marsh Bay is one of the few comfortable saltwater swimming holes in Maine. Summer water temperatures reach well above 70F. Boating is as good as it gets on the river – suitable to the largest sailing vessel to the smallest kayak or canoe.

The Penobscot River is Maine’s largest river and through it flows 10.1 billion gallons daily. The water drains from 1/3 of the state (8,592 square miles) and is Maine’s largest watershed.

Penobscot River Restoration Project is exciting news. The project, at a cost of $50,000,000, will open up 500 miles of unimpeded river passage to sea run fish in the next few years. For more click Here.

Nearby Mt. Waldo - at a height of 1500’ – can be seen from Treat Point looking west across Marsh Stream. Mt.Waldo is a great place for aggressive hiking. Upon reaching the top, aside from beautiful views, there is a granite-quarry swimming hole! Perfect for hot summer days.

Golf Courses. You will find 18 hole courses in Bangor, Bar Harbor and Rockland, 9 holes courses in Bucksport, Northport, Camden, Castine, Deer Isle, Ellsworth, and Hampden.
