About Treat Point Shores

As you enter Treat Point Shores proper, the road climbs through a hobbited woodland. The hills stand as silent sentinels, welcoming owners and their guests alike, proclaiming the exclusiveness and magic of this land. The southern tip of the peninsula is the meeting place of three rivers, the Penobscot River, and the North and South Branches of the Marsh River.
Treat Point Shores overlooks the 371-acre Howard L. Mendall Wilderness Preserve.
Marsh Bay is one of the few comfortable saltwater swimming holes in Maine. Summer water temperatures reach well above 70F. Boating is as good as it gets along the river. Marsh Bay is a safe mooring area for boats with deepwater access to Penobscot Bay - just 9 miles south. Upriver, one can travel through 16 beautiful miles to Bangor.

The close by State boat ramp affords deepwater access at all tides. There is a large mooring field next to Treat Point Shores. The river is deep enough for the largest sailboat, yet perfect for exploring by kayak or canoe. The peninsula is located in the quiet village of Frankfort – (pop. 1020) and overlooks the widest section of the Penobscot River.
